Medical Qualifications
Mr Luca Sabatini obtained his medical qualification and his MD at the "La Sapienza" University, in Rome, Italy, where he worked and conducted his research into male and female reproductive endocrinology. In 1997 he specialised in Clinical Pathology and soon after moved to the UK where he trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. In 2006 he obtained the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists qualification of Specialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery.
Medical Experience
Mr Sabatini obtained a Medical Doctorate in 1991 for his work studying the effect of reactive oxygen species on human sperm. His studies were among the first to highlight the detrimental effect of free radicals on human reproduction. In 2003, he was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and in 2006 was awarded the European University Diploma of Advanced Gynaecological Operative Endoscopy. Mr Sabatini is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, British Medical Association, Medical Defence Union, British Fertility Society and European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology.
Mr Sabatini’s NHS practice is at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London where since 2011 he has been the Clinical Lead at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. Since 2007 he has been a Consultant at Barts' and The Royal London Hospitals where he leads highly specialised Fertility, Gynaecology-Endocrinology and Male Infertility clinics. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Queen Mary University of London and former member of the Barts and The London Clinical Research Board. He is available for private patients at The Princess Grace Hospital, London.
Mr Sabatini is an expert in advanced endoscopic surgery for the treatment of endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, uterine adhesions, tubal surgery, ovarian cysts and other benign gynaecological conditions. He has clinical and academic interests in the assessment and treatment of both male and female infertility particularly the interpretation and management of ovarian reserve testing and ovarian aging; he performs assissted conception and surgical sperm retrieval. He also specialises in gynaecological-endocrinological problems such as polycystic ovaries, menstrual disorders and menopause and is an expert in gynaecological ultrasound for endometriosis, fibroids and adenomyosis and in the management of early pregnancy complication, including recurrent miscarriage and implantation failure. He works closely with a team of anaesthetists, uro-gynaecologists, general surgeons, pain specialists and specialists nurses to provide treatments that are individually tailored to each patient.
