Dr Karl Murphy, Consultant Obstetrician

Medical Qualifications

Dr Karl Murphy qualifed with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree and Bachelor of Obstetrics from the National University of Ireland in 1981 and Medical Doctorate from the same university in 1992.

He was awarded Subspecialty Accreditation in Foetal Medicine from the Royal College of Obstetricans and Gynaecologists in 1994 and has subsequently been awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of London and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1999.

Medical Experience

Dr Murphy was a Medical Research Council Research Fellow in Oxford from 1987–1989. He won the Prize Medal Award from Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1987 and was previously Clinical Director for Women & Children's Services at St Mary's Hospital, London.

Dr Murphy is a Consultant Obstetrician at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London and is available for private appointments at the Portland Hospital.

Dr Murphy specialises in obstetrics including obstetric ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis and Caesarean section.
