Medical Qualifications
Mr Fausto Palazzo qualified in medicine in 1992 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997. He was awarded a Master of Surgery from the University of London in 2002 for endocrine research into thyrocyte apoptosis undertaken at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. In 2003 was awarded the Intercollegiate Fellowship in General Surgery with Endocrine Surgery as a nominated sub-speciality.
In addition to his UK training in Cambridge, North East London and Oxford he undertook three years of Endocrine Surgical training at the University of Sydney, Australia (T.S. Reeve International Clinical Fellow 2003–2004) and Marseille, France (British Association of Endocrine Surgery Travelling Fellow 2004–2005).
Medical Experience
Mr Fausto Palazzo is Clinical Lead for Endocrine Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare and has been based at Hammersmith Hospital London since 2005. Mr Palazzo has previously been chair of the Thyroid Cancer Tumour Working Group for West London and member and executive committee member of the British Association of Endocrine & Thyroid Surgery. He is a member of the European Society Endocrine Surgery and the International Association of Endocrine Surgery and has published on all aspects of endocrine surgery.
Mr Palazzo has a surgical practice that focuses entirely on thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal disease and has one of the largest endocrine surgical practices in the UK. He specialises in the management of goitre and thyroid cancer, parathyroid disease/hyperparathyroidism (via minimally invasive parathyroidectomy), renal parathyroid disease, adrenal disease and adrenal tumours using both laparoscopic and retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy techniques.
Mr Palazzo works in a multidisciplinary team at Hammersmith Hospital that has an international clinical and academic reputation for the management of rare endocrine surgical pathologies. He is available for private patients at Parkside Hospital and The Princess Grace Hospital, London.
