Miss Rebecca Galustian, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Personal treatment philosophy:

"Rational-Emotive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RECBT) is the earliest form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and was created by Dr Albert Ellis. Ellis stated that it is our unhealthy thinking about events that lead to unhealthy behaviours and emotions. RECBT works on the basis that if we can change this unhealthy thinking, we can change our emotional and behavioural responses and therefore experience healthier alternatives. Therapy helps to identify unhealthy ways of thinking and to then develop healthier alternatives which ultimately leads to goal achievement, be it emotional and or behavioural."

After initially training as a Humanistic Psychotherapist, Rebecca retrained as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at Goldsmiths University of London where she gained an MSc in Rational-Emotive and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. As well as working as a therapist Rebecca also works at Goldsmiths University teaching and supervising the students completing the MSc RECBT.

Rebecca has over a decade's experience working as an individual and group therapist within a range of settings including the private sector in Central London, and within schools with adolescents. Rebecca has extensive experience in the treatment of many general psychiatry conditions including anxiety, depression, panic disorder and OCD. Rebecca also has particular interests and significant experience in the management of anger, the psychotherapeutic components of the treatment of addictions and the treatment of phobias.
