Medical Qualifications

After qualifying from Cambridge University Mr Charles Imber has had extensive training in all aspects of both open and laparoscopic HPB surgery in London, Oxford and Birmingham. In 2002 he completed a Master’s thesis on the preservation of liver tissue for transplantation at Cambridge University. He has published extensively in the scientific literature with over 30 cited manuscripts in major journals, written several book chapters and has presented at national and international meetings on a regular basis.

Medical Experience and Training

Mr Charles Imber became a consultant in 2006 with a special interest in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, as well as liver transplantation and management of sports groin. His area of surgery ranges from keyhole gall bladder surgery to more advanced liver / pancreatic resections for cancer. He also specialises in hernia surgery and is a member of the “total abdomen” team at the Princess Grace, a unique multidisciplinary unit offering all aspects of straightforward and complex hernia surgery.

Mr Imber is the Head of Service for the University College Hospital Liver/Pancreas team and also performs liver transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital. He is also a member of the London Sarcoma service based at UCH.
