Medical Qualifications

Professor Paul Foster graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Hons) degree and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Nottingham.

He completed his ophthalmology training at Oxford Eye Hospital from 1992 to 1994 and the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London from 1999 to 2003. Further to this, Prof Foster was awarded a PhD from University College London.

Prof Foster has also undertaken research training at the University College London Institute of Ophthalmology and the Singapore National Eye Centre.

Medical Experience and Training

Prof Foster is Professor of Glaucoma Studies at the University College London Institute of Ophthalmology, and has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the world famous Moorfields Eye Hospital in London since 2003. He has been awarded Fellowship of both the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and the Royal College of Ophthlamologists (London).

In 2002 Prof Foster was elected to the Glaucoma Research Society promoting excellence in the understanding and prevention of glaucoma. He is one of the limited 100 expert members of the Society worldwide, and is thereby a recognised authority on glaucoma.

At the end of 2011, Prof Foster had written 151 scientific manuscripts, 16 book chapters, and had been awarded over £6 million of research grants. He has been awarded prizes for his contribution to glaucoma care in the UK, Europe, Australia, Singapore and China. He serves over 3000 patients every year at his NHS glaucoma clinic at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
