Ms Lucy Botes, Registered Nurse, Addiction Recovery

Personal treatment philosophy:

"I like to treat patients holistically, taking all aspects of well-being into consideration - including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual."

Lucy Botes, Addiction Detox Nurse

Lucy qualified as a Registered Nurse (RGN) in 2008 from Canterbury Christ Church University and Kent & Canterbury Hospitals. She then went on to gain broad hospital and community experience including Emergency Medicine in the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department. The fast pace of A&E and not knowing who is coming in next ideally suited Lucy's skill set.

Lucy now specialises in mental health and in treating addictions of all sorts at PROMIS Rehabilitation. She works with the medical team, counsellors and psychiatrists and is usually the first port of call for patients requiring detox. Patients are often at their very lowest ebb when they meet Lucy and require levels of care that provide them with both the medical support they need, but also the first glimpse of 'hope'. Working in this environment, Lucy has gained vast clinical experience of the immediate care requirements for patients with a range of addictions - from alcohol, eating disorders, prescription drug addictions and substance abuse.

Lucy is now responsible for running the nursing for the Detox Unit at the Withersdane Hall Mind Campus, and for medical liaison with the doctors, where she is passionate about helping to offer all her patients an holistic path to recovery.
