Dr Gavin Johnson, Consultant Gastroenterologist

Medical Qualifications

Dr Gavin Johnson qualified in 1998 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree from Newcastle University. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2002 and completed a Diploma in Medical Education from University College London in 2007.

Dr Johnson went on to gain a Master of Science degree in Medical Education from University College London in 2008 and was awarded his Medical Doctorate from Newcastle University in 2010.

Medical Experience

Dr Johnson is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He co-organises the annual London Live Endoscopy course alongside the University College London Postgraduate Course in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and is the Lead for the bi-annual Joint Advisory Group-accredited Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) training course. Dr Johnson is also a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at University College London.

As a result of his interest and expertise in gastroenterology, Dr Johnson is Web Editor of the e-Learning section of United European Gastroenterology, and Associate Editor of Frontline Gastroenterology.

Dr Johnson is currently a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College London Hospital, The Physicians Clinic, and The Princess Grace Hospital, London where he is available for private patients. He specialises in Pancreatobiliary medicine, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography, endoscopy, and medical education.
